Adventures in carpentry

Last year we bought a (supposedly) Amish-made swing. We hung it on our front porch from the existing swing hooks. Alas, even though the swing wasn't that wide, it scraped the side of the house.

So this year, we sought to get an A-frame support for the swing. What we found were either well-made but ridiculously expensive, or crap and overpriced. So, I set about to find A-frame plans. The only think I could find that was free is from "BuildEazy".

So armed with these plans, David got the materials for just under $100. He foundered a bit while doing this, but like with any plan, once it's done, it can be easily done again.

He did a bang-up job. We have a sturdy support for our swing and our fat asses.

Now, the problem is moving it to the deck. This damn thing weights a TON!

It looks awesome!

Remove the swing and move the frame.
Then put the swing back on.
But you knew that, didn't you? ;-)
